The Brief

One Inspiration Photo, A Clear Idea Of "Luxury"

Most kitchens start as a feeling before they're a plan. For this Monterey family, that feeling arrived as a single photo — a bright, classic, unmistakably luxurious kitchen they'd saved and held onto. They brought it into our Taren Point showroom, sat down with our design team, and said, in effect: this is the look, can you make it work for our home and our budget?

That's a brief we like. A clear direction, a real room to work with, and a family who knew what they wanted but were open to being guided on how to get there. Monterey sits in Sydney's St George area, a short run from our Caringbah base, and the home had good bones — what it needed was a kitchen with presence to match.

What We Did

From Showroom Visit To Finished Kitchen

Every kitchen we build follows the same considered path — listen first, design around the way the family lives, then manufacture and install with as little disruption as possible. Here's how this one came together.

01
Listened To The Brief

We started with that inspiration photo and the family's day-to-day needs — how they cook, gather, and use the space — then translated the look they loved into a plan that suited their home.

02
Worked To The Budget

The family were honest that budget mattered. Our designer walked them through options at different price points so they could choose where to invest and where to save, without losing the luxury feel they came in for.

03
Designed The Statement Island

The island became the anchor of the room — detailed shaker panelling on the ends and a full-height skirting around the base, combining classic styling with a solid, tailored presence.

04
Selected Surfaces & Finishes

We helped the family choose a benchtop, splashback, and door finish that worked together — a marble-look stone paired with a detailed satin-white door profile for that classic, traditional feel.

05
Manufactured & Installed

From there our team manufactured the cabinetry and handled the install end-to-end — the part the family later described as genuinely hassle-free.

The Centrepiece

An Island Built To Anchor The Room

In a kitchen this open, the island does more than add bench space — it sets the tone for the whole room. We gave this one detailed shaker-style panelling on the ends and a full-height skirting around the base, so it reads as a considered piece of furniture rather than a box with a stone top.

The result is exactly what the family were after: classic styling with a solid, tailored look, finished with the same marble-look stone that runs through the rest of the kitchen. It's the first thing you notice walking in, and the spot the family now gathers around.

The Surfaces That Make It

The luxury feel in this kitchen comes down to a handful of well-chosen finishes working together — a soft satin-white door, a detailed island, and marble-look stone across the benchtops and splashback. Every surface here is something the family selected with us in the Taren Point showroom.

Doors Polyurethane, "Briar" detailed profile in a soft satin white — a classic, traditional look, with two six-panel glass feature doors.
Island Detailed shaker-style end panelling with a full-height skirting around the base.
Island & Splashback Stone A gloss white base with subtle grey patterning — a sophisticated, luxurious marble-look surface.
L-Shaped Benchtops Soft, smudged greys with delicate striations — a refined surface inspired by the look of rain.
Splashback Marble-look stone paired with a low-iron Starphire glass splashback for clarity behind the cooktop.

*Every kitchen we build is fully customised. We carry a standard range in our Taren Point showroom, but we can also source whatever a project calls for — Caesarstone, full marble, classic stone, porcelain, or a specific finish a customer has set their heart on. The surfaces in this Monterey kitchen were custom selections, chosen to suit the look the family came in with.

Before & After

The Result

A Kitchen That Lives Up To The Photo

The finished kitchen is brighter, more open, and unmistakably the luxury look the family walked in with. The satin-white doors and marble-look stone give it that classic feel, while the shaker island grounds the whole room. It's a space built for a family to actually live in, not just look at.

It's also a good example of how we work right across the St George area and the wider Sydney south — a clear brief, honest options around budget, and a finish the family is genuinely proud of.
