A Jannali Kitchen Makeover
A layout that already worked — reworked in bright white, with the tired beige finishes left firmly in the past.
Book A Free In-Home ConsultationA Modern Refresh, Not A Rebuild
The homeowner came to Kitchen & Home Renovations Co. wanting a modern kitchen renovation in Jannali. The layout and function already worked — the look did not.
The original kitchen was tired: a dated beige colour scheme, white appliances, and old hardware that had aged the whole space. The goal was to update the design, replace the worn finishes, and bring in more natural light — without moving walls or starting from scratch. That makes it an ideal candidate for a kitchen makeover rather than a full renovation.
Key Takeaways
- The existing cabinetry was sound, so the kitchen was refreshed in place rather than rebuilt.
- Benchtops and the splashback were resurfaced in a bright white stone, bonded directly over the existing surfaces — today’s equivalent in our Quantum Zero range is Luna White.
- Doors, panels and drawer fronts were replaced in a crisp white matt finish with new chrome handles.
- White appliances were upgraded to stainless steel, with a concealed rangehood for a cleaner line.
- The result is a brighter, lighter, contemporary kitchen — finished far faster than a full rebuild.
Detail By Detail
Our certified kitchen designer assessed the kitchen and confirmed a brand-new build wasn't necessary — the internal cabinetry was still in good shape. The most effective path was a makeover: new surfaces, new doors and new hardware, keeping the proven layout and the existing cooktop.
A Bright White Stone Surface
The benchtop and splashback were finished in a bright white stone with fine speckling. That colour came from our earlier product range — in our current Quantum Zero range, the equivalent is Luna White, the colour you’d choose today for the same look. The stone is only around 6.5mm thick, handcrafted to fit and bonded straight over the existing benchtop. The same resurfacing approach works across a range of jobs:
- Kitchen benchtops
- Splashbacks and kickplates
- Outdoor kitchens
- Home office desktops
- Laundry benchtops
Straight Over The Old Tiles
A standout benefit of resurfacing is the option to go directly over existing tiles. We bonded the same bright white stone onto the tiled wall, just like the benchtop — for a fresh, grout-free splashback that's a breeze to keep clean, with none of the cost or mess of removing the old tiles.
Crisp White Matt Fronts
The old beige doors, panels and drawer fronts were replaced with crisp white matt fronts. Dated knobs were swapped for chrome handles, and every door is fitted with quality soft-close hinges. Push-open hinges are an option for a handleless look.
A Modern Stainless Steel Finish
The white appliances were upgraded to a modern stainless steel finish — fridge, dishwasher, sink, cooktop and tapware. The fixed white rangehood was replaced with a concealed unit to keep the lines clean and in step with the contemporary design.
Modern Style, Timeless Result
The whole makeover followed one clear idea: a calm, bright, contemporary kitchen that wouldn't date. Modern style, contemporary elements, a timeless result.

Kitchen Makeover FAQs
What's the difference between a kitchen makeover and a full renovation?
A makeover keeps your existing cabinetry where it's structurally sound and refreshes everything you see and touch — resurfaced benchtops, new doors and drawer fronts, new handles and updated appliances. It's faster, cleaner and lower-cost than a full renovation, which rebuilds the kitchen from the carcasses up.
Can you resurface a benchtop over the existing one?
Yes. Our stone is only around 6.5mm thick, so it's handcrafted to fit and bonded directly over the existing benchtop. There's no demolition of the old top, which keeps the job faster and far less messy.
Can you go straight over existing splashback tiles?
In most cases, yes. We can bond stone directly over the existing tiled surface, just like the benchtop. The result is a fresh, grout-free splashback that's a breeze to keep clean — without the cost and mess of removing the old tiles.
How long does a kitchen makeover take?
Because we're refreshing rather than rebuilding, a makeover is finished much faster than a full renovation — often within one to two weeks, depending on the scope of work. We confirm an exact timeline for your kitchen at your free in-home consultation.
Do you only work in Jannali and the Sutherland Shire?
No. We're based at our Taren Point showroom and renovate kitchens right across Sydney — including the Sutherland Shire, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, St George area and North Shore.
